We are over one third of the way done with our month long challenge, and I am beginning to see little differences in the way that I look at things. I’ll admit, yesterday’s was hard for me. I know that it was necessary, though, (maybe because of how hard it was 🙂 ) and I am going to continue to single task as much as possible for the rest of the month. Each of these challenges I want to use as a habit builder for myself in order to take a slower approach to life, as well as have a home that is a refuge for myself and others.
Let me ask you a question. What are your mornings like? Do you get up early enough? Do you have time for breakfast, or coffee, or whatever else you need to fuel your day and start off on the right foot? Do you wake up alone, or are you in charge of little ones? Do you speak to spouses and children before arriving at work, or are you alone and your morning is quiet? Do you read or study God’s word? Do you listen to music?
Today’s challenge is simple. Today I want you to spend some time making an inventory of your mornings. What is your morning time like? What do you do? What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? What is your favorite part of the morning? How long to you have to get ready to face the world?
Think about all of these things and even write them down. Take a little inventory of morning time. This week we will work on re-shaping our mornings to allow for a little more calm and serenity before we have to go out and face the crazy world each day. In this way, our home will be a refuge that we wake up to each day, AND that we really desire to return to each evening. Not to mention a place where others want to come and share in our peaceful environment, as well.
